Tailoring Superinsulating Silica Aerogels

After ageing, the PMSQ gels were first washed in methanol (Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd). The methanol was exchanged with fresh methanol three times every 12 hours. The gels were then washed in 2-propanol (Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd) three times every 12 hours to remove CTAC. Subsequently, the PMSQ gels were chemically modified by 2-propanol (Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd)/HMDSO (Hangzhou Guibao Chemical Co., Ltd, China)/HCL (36.4%, Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd) solutions. In this study, 200 ml 2-propanol was used as the solvent. Different amounts of HMDSO were added to the solution. The HMDSO : HCL molar ratio was kept constant at 5 : 4.
After the surface modification process, the PMSQ gels were washed in HMDSO solution exchanged with fresh solution three times every 12 hours. During the drying process, HMDSO was slowly removed by evaporation at room temperature for 1 d. After drying, the aerogels were heated at 90 °C for 2 h and 160 °C for another 2 h to allow the further spring-back of the gel network. Modified-7 could not spring back further after heating at 160 °C. Thus, Modified-7 (48 mg cm−3) was further heated at 300 °C for 1 h to allow further spring-back of the gel network.

Synthesis of Fuel Cell Catalysts

Photochemical Degradation of BPA and OA

Ferric chloride (99%), hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, 2-propanol, oxalic acid (Ox), pyruvic acid (Pyr), and citric acid (Cit) were obtained from Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China). A stock solution of BPA in ultrapure water was prepared for photolysis experiments. All chemicals were of analytical reagent grade or higher purity and were used without further purification. Milli-Q water was used in all experiments.

Quantitative Analysis of Phytohormones

Purified acetonitrile and formic acid were purchased from Fisher. Analytic grade methanol, ethanol, 2-propanol, and dichloromethane were obtained from Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China). The ultrapure water was produced in the authors' laboratory.

Silica-based Mesoporous Material Synthesis

Facile Synthesis of Monolithic MSQ Aerogels

The MSQ aerogel monolith was synthesized by a sol-gel process followed by ambient drying in an oven at 40 °C for 12 h. For hydrolysis and polymerization, Methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS, Aladdin, Shanghai, China, 98%) was added into a mix of hexadecyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC, Aladdin, 97%), methanol, and HCl solution, with vigorous stirring and an ice-bath for 30 min. Propylene oxide (PO, Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd., Shanghai, China, ≥99.5%) was then added as a gelation agent into the mixed solution and stirred for 2 min. The fabricated mix solution was closed and placed into an oven at 40 °C for the gelation process for about 40 min and a further aging process for 40 min. The gel was further solvent-exchanged with 2-propanol, hexamethyldisilane/n-heptane, and heptane (Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd., Shanghai, China, ≥99.5%) to eliminate CTAC and water. Finally, the solvent-exchanged gels were dried at 40 °C for 24 h to prepare the monolith of MSQ aerogel.

Characterization of SPINK13 in HCC

(USA); Human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line, MHCC97-H cells, was donated from Dr. Feng Fan; and SPINK13 protein was synthesized by our laboratory from exogenous expression of HE239T cells. The study was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki (as revised in 2013).
