Methanol (MeOH), ethanol (EtOH), tetrahydrofuran (THF, C4H8O, ≥99.9%), and chloroform (CHCl3) were purchased by Carlo Erba Reagents. All the reagents and solvents were of analytical reagent grade and were used as received. All cell culture reagents were purchased from Gibco (Alfagene, Lisbon, Portugal) unless stated otherwise.
