Tyrphostin A9, formic acid and 3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzaldehyde were obtained from Sigma Aldrich (St. Louis, MO). 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) propanoic acid was acquired from Aurum Pharmatech (Franklin Park, NJ). Ultra-pure water was purified using a Barnstead Nanopure Diamond system from Thermo Fisher Scientific (Watham, MA). Acetonitrile, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and acetic acid were purchased from Fisher Scientific (Watham, MA). 3T3-L1 cells were obtained from American Type Culture Collection and differentiated as previously described [13 (link)]. Phenol red free high glucose Dulbecco's modified eagle medium (DMEM), and insulin were purchased from Life Technologies (Grand Island, NY). Hyclone fetal bovine serum (FBS) was acquired from GE Life Sciences (Marlborough, Massachusetts).
