Imatinib mesylate was kindly provided by Osvah Pharmaceutical Company (Tehran, Iran). HPMC K4M and microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) (Avicel pH 101) were supplied by Sigma-Aldrich (M) Sdn Bhd (Subang jaya, Malayisa). Low viscosity sodium alginate and sodium bicarbonate were purchased from R&M chemicals (KL, Malaysia).
