All chemicals were used as received without further purification. Hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB, >99.0%), l-ascorbic acid (AA, >99.99%), chloroauric acid (HAuCl4), and hydrochloric acid (HCl, 37 wt% in water) were purchased from Macklin. Hexadecyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC, >99.0%), sodium borohydride (NaBH4, 98%), sodium oleate (NaOL, >99.88%), silver nitrate (AgNO3, >99.8%), potassium tetrachloroplatinate(ii) (K2PtCl4, >99.99%) were purchased from Aladdin. Ultrapure water (Millipore Milli-Q grade) with a resistivity of 18.2 MΩ was used in all of the experiments. All glassware for the AuNRs synthesis were cleaned with freshly prepared aqua regia (HCl/HNO3 in a 3 : 1 volume ratio), rinsed with large amounts of water, and dried in oven at 60 °C before use.

Synthesis of Copolymer Coating Materials

All experimental water was deionized water.

Synthesis of Rare-Earth-Doped Nanoparticles
