HPLC grade methanol (MeOH) and acetonitrile (ACN) were purchased from BDH Prolabo (UK), acetone from Merck (Germany), anhydrous ammonia solution (7 N in MeOH) from Alfa Aesar (Germany), and ACS grade formic acid, as well as quartz sand (SiO2), from Sigma-Aldrich. Ultrapure water was produced by Elix-Milli-Q system (Millipore, USA). Cellulose filters (type D28), used for pressurized liquid extraction (PLE), were produced by Dionex Corporation (USA) and regenerated cellulose filters (0.45 µm), used for the final extract filtration, by Waters (USA). HPLC column ACE C18 PFP (150 × 3 mm; 3 μm) was purchased from Advanced Chromatography Technologies (UK).
Quantification of Emerging Pollutants
Water used for preparation of calibration standards and LC–MS mobile phase was purified by an Elix Milli-Q system (Millipore, Billerica, MA, USA). Methanol was purchased from Panreac (Castellar del Vallès, Barcelona, Spain) and formic acid was purchased from Amresco (Solon, OH, USA). Ammonium fluoride was acquired from Alfa Aesar GmbH & Co KG (Karlsruhe, Germany).
Analytical Procedures for Biodegradation Compounds
Ultrapure water was produced using an Elix-Milli-Q system (Millipore, Bedford, MA, USA).
Solid-phase extraction (SPE) cartridges Oasis HLB (60 mg/3 mL) were supplied by Waters (Milford, MA, USA). The individual stock solutions (10 mg/mL and 1 mg/mL) of MTHD were prepared in LC-MS grade methanol.
Tramadol Quantification by LC-MS
The purity of the reference materials used for confirmatory purposes was ≥ 98%. The individual stock solutions (10 mg/mL and 1 mg/mL) of TRAM and N-DM TRAM used for quantitative purposes were prepared in methanol (LC-MS grade). Chemicals used for growth media were of analytical grade purity whereas those for molecular analyses were of molecular grade and were supplied by Sigma-Aldrich (USA) and Kemika (Zagreb, Croatia). Formic acid (LC-MS grade) and ammonium formate (purity ≥ 99%) were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich.
LC-MS grade solvents (acetonitrile and methanol) were products of J.T. Baker (Deventer, the Netherlands). Phenol (purity ≥ 99.5%) and glucose (purity ≥ 99.5 %) were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich. Sulfuric acid (95-97%) was purchased from Merck. Ultrapure water was produced using an Elix-Milli-Q system (Millipore, Bedford, MA, USA).
Solid-phase extraction (SPE) cartridges Oasis HLB (60 mg/3 mL) were supplied by Waters (Milford, MA, USA).
About PubCompare
Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.
We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.
However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
