FDG-PET Imaging for Alzheimer's Diagnosis

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Scans were performed on a Biograph 6 TruePoint Hirez (Siemens Medical Solutions, Munich, Germany) hybrid PET/computed tomography (CT) scanner (3D-detection mode, producing images with 1 × 1 × 1.5 mm voxels and a spatial resolution of approximately 5-mm full width at half maximum at the field of view centered). Cerebral emission scans began an average of 20 min after the injection of 1.85 MBq/kg weight of FDG and lasted for 10 min. Both CT and PET scans were acquired. PET data were corrected for partial volume effects. Two independent nuclear medicine physicians with extensive experience in reading FDG-PET scans, and blind to clinical information, examined all FDG-PET scans at inclusion. A three-point scale was used for rating FDG-PET profiles (0 = normal, 1 = temporo-parietal hypometabolism suggestive of AD, 2 = other). Inter-rater agreement was estimated by calculating κ and its 95% CI.

PET Imaging of Regional Cerebral Blood Flow

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
The subjects were scanned in a shielded, darkened room. The head was immobilized and aligned transaxially to the orbitomeatal line using a laser beam. Regional distribution of radioactivity was obtained using a Biograph 6 TruePoint HiRez (Siemens Medical) PET scanner with full volume acquisition. The duration of each scan was 80 s; approximately 6 mCi of H215O was administered to each subject. A measure of auto-attenuation correction was obtained by performing a CT scan before the PET H215O.

PET Imaging of Cerebral Glucose Metabolism

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
All 18 HC and 15 PCA patients underwent an [18F]FDG-PET scan. Acquisitions were performed on a Biograph 6 TruePoint Hirez (Siemens Medical Solutions, Munich, Germany) hybrid PET/computed tomography (CT) scanner (3D detection mode, producing images with 1 × 1 × 1.5 mm voxels). Cerebral emission scans began around 20 min after the injection of 1.85 MBq/kg weight of [18F]FDG, and lasted 10 min. A structural T1-weighted image was also recorded for each participant.

Multi-modal Neuroimaging of Brain Lesions

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
All participants underwent a brain MRI scan using a 1.5 T imager at one center (Tours) and 3 T imagers at the other two centers (Caen and Toulouse). T2-weighted images from each subject were used to investigate brain lesions. 3D T1-weighted volume (SPGR sequence, TE/TR/TI = 3.5/10.76/600 ms, bandwidth = 97 Hz/px, flip angle = 10°, and voxel size: 1.1 × 1.1 × 1.2 mm3) was used for volumetric analysis.
PET-CT scans with 18F-FDG were performed on a hybrid tomograph, operating in 3D detection mode (Dual Gemini, Philips Medical Systems, Discovery RX VCT 64, General Electric, and Biograph 6 TruePoint HiRez, Siemens Medical Solutions, resp., in Tours, Caen, and Toulouse). Capillary glycaemia was checked prior to 18F-FDG PET. PET scans were acquired 30 minutes after an injection of 185 MBq of 18F-FDG (mean value). A dynamic PET acquisition was performed, lasting 30 minutes with six 5 min frames. All PET sinograms were reconstructed by adapting the parameters to those of the tomograph with the lowest spatial resolution (Dual Gemini), with corrections for randomness, scatter, photon attenuation, and decay, which produced images with an isotropic voxel of 2 × 2 × 2 mm3. The six frames were averaged into a single image.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
