Measurement of Patent Foramen Ovale Size

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
TEE was performed using a cardiac ultrasound machine (Vivid E9; GE Healthcare, Chicago, IL, United States) with a 6VT-D transesophageal probe at a frequency range of 3.0-8.0 MHz. All patients were examined in a fasting state. For each, after local pharyngeal anesthesia was applied (10% topical lidocaine spray), the probe was quickly inserted into the esophagus through the mouth until it reached the pharynx. The width of the fissure between the primary septum and secondary septum was measured as the size of PFO in all confirmed PFO patients.

Echocardiographic Assessment of Valve Implantation

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Transesophageal echocardiography (TOE) was performed prior to and immediately after valve implantation in all patients. TOE was performed with multiplane sector ultrasound transducers (GE 6Tc-RS, 3.0–8.0. MHz or GE 6VT-D, 3.0–8.0. MHz probes) and GE Vivid S6, GE Vivid S70 ultrasound machines (GE Healthcare GmbH, Solingen, Germany).

Transoesophageal Echocardiography Monitoring in Cardiac Surgery

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
All patients received standardized transoesophageal echocardiography (TEE) before skin incision, immediately after CPB weaning, prior ICU, and during their ICU stay, when indicated. Each TEE was performed with multiplane sector ultrasound transducers (GE 6Tc-RS, 3.0–8.0. MHz or GE 6VT-D, 3.0–8.0. MHz probes) and GE Vivid S6, GE Vivid S70 ultrasound machines (GE Healthcare GmbH, Solingen, Germany) by qualified expert sonographers. Preoperative TEE images of severe affected TV and PV are shown in Figure 1.

2D Transesophageal Echocardiography Protocol

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
All 2D-TEE examinations were performed with a twodimensional ultrasound system (Vivid E7, GE Healthcare, Boston, USA) with a 3.0-8.0 MHz transducer (6VT-D, GE Healthcare, Boston, USA). The interatrial septum was assessed in mid-position views of 90°-120° (BiCaval view) and in mid-position views of 30°-50° (short-axis view) in all patients. TEE was performed without the Valsalva maneuver and without saline contrast administration.
The post-processing and study evaluation were performed using a dedicated workstation (EchoPAC, GE Healthcare, Boston, USA).

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
