hexahydrate (ACS grade), citric acid (99%) and ammonium hydroxide
(28–30%, ACS reagent) were obtained from Sigma-Aldrich. Iron(II)
chloride tetrahydrate (≥99%) was obtained from Honeywell. Tetramethylammonium
hydroxide (25 wt % in H2O) was obtained from Tokyo Chemical
Industry. All chemicals were used without further purification.

purchased from Fisher Scientific, and ethanol (technical grade) was
purchased from Scharlab S.L.
For the synthesis of bimetallic
ZIF (Zn0.6Co0.4) frameworks, 2-methylimidazole
(HmIm), zinc nitrate hexahydrate
[Zn(NO3)2·6H2O] and cobalt(II)
nitrate hexahydrate [Co(NO3)2·6H2O] were procured from Sigma-Aldrich. Analytical grade methanol was
procured from J T Baker India.

(Co(NO3)2·6H2O, Alfa Aesar,
99.9%), sodium
borohydride (NaBH4, ReagentPlus, 99%) is used in all experiments.
