Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Mouse Model

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Streptozotocin (STZ) (Sigma Aldrich, St. Louis, MO) was dissolved in 0.1 M sodium citrate and administered to 4 hours fasted mice by intraperitoneal injections at 50 mg/kg daily for 5 consecutive days at 6 weeks of age. Mice were housed for an additional two weeks before using them in experiments. Non-fasting blood glucose concentrations were determined by tail-clip blood draw with a Contour clinical glucometer (Bayer, Leverkusen, Germany). Only mice with non-fasting blood glucose exceeding 300 mg/dL were used for experiments.

Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetes Model

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Diabetes was induced as described previously (67 (link)). In brief, 50 mg/kg streptozotocin (S0130, Sigma-Aldrich) was administered by i.p. injections for 5 consecutive days at 6 weeks of age. Mice were housed for an additional 2 weeks before being used in experiments. Nonfasting blood glucose concentrations were determined by tail-clip blood draw with a Contour clinical glucometer (Bayer). Only mice with nonfasting blood glucose exceeding 300 mg/dL were used for experiments.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
