Wild type C57BL/6J mice and the following mutant mouse lines were obtained from The Jackson Laboratory: Ptenflox (stock # 004597) (Groszer et al., 2001 (link)), p53flox (stock # 008462) (Marino et al., 2000 (link)), p21 KO (stock # 003263) (Brugarolas et al., 1995 (link)), mGfap-Cre line 77.6 (stock # 024098) (Gregorian et al., 2009 (link)), Thy1-STOP-YFP (stock # 005630) (Buffelli et al., 2003 (link)), and Rosa-tdT (stock # 007914) (Madisen et al., 2010 (link)). Unless otherwise stated, both male and female mice at 8 weeks and older were used for all experiments. All mice were housed under a controlled temperature and a 12-h light/dark cycle with free access to water and food in an animal facility at UT Southwestern. The sample sizes were empirically determined. The experiments were not randomized and the researchers were not blinded to the allocation of animals during experiments and outcome assessment. All experimental procedures and protocols were approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee at UT Southwestern.

Mice Lines Used for Neurological Research

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
C57BL/6 mice were obtained from Charles River Laboratories. Pvalb-Cre, Nes-Cre, Gad2-Cre, Calb2-Cre, Vglut2-Cre, Sst-Cre, Rosa-Stop-tdT, and Thy1-stop-YFP mice were obtained from Jackson Labs (stock nos. 008069, 003771, 010802, 010774, 016963, 013044, 007909). Trhr-EGFP mice (stock no. 030036-UCD) were obtained from Mutant Mouse Resource and Research Center (MMRRC). Conditional allele of Npnt (Npntfl/fl) mice were kindly from Dr. Denise K. Marciano (University of Texas Southwestern) (81 (link)). Conditional allele of Itgb1 (Itgb1fl/fl) and Aldh1l1-EGFP mice were provided by Dr. Stefanie Robel (Virginia Tech) (82 (link), 83 (link)). Mice were housed in a 12-h dark/light cycle and had ad libitum access to food and water. All experiments were performed in compliance with NIH guidelines and protocols and were approved by the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee. Please reference SI Appendix for more details.

Genetic Mouse Models for Neural Research

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Wild type C57BL/6 mice were obtained from Jackson Laboratory. We obtained the following mice from Jackson Laboratory: Pvalb-Cre (JAX #: 008069, RRID:IMSR_JAX:008069), Gad2-Cre (JAX #: 010802, RRID:IMSR_JAX:010802), Sst-Cre (JAX #: 028864, RRID:IMSR_JAX:028864), Sun1-stop-GFP (JAX #: 021039, RRID:IMSR_JAX:021039), Thy1-STOP-YFP (JAX #: 005630, RRID: IMSR_JAX:005630), ROSA-stop-tdT (JAX #: 007909, RRID:IMSR_JAX:007909) and GAD67-GFP (JAX #: 007673, RRID:IMSR_JAX:007673). Animals were housed in a temperature -controlled environment, in a 12 hr dark/light cycle, and with access to food and water ad libitum.
Both males and females were used in these experiments. Genomic DNA was isolated from tails genotyping as previously described (Su et al. 2010) Unless otherwise stated, n= number of animals and a minimum of three age-matched wildtype (and, where transgenic reporters were used, of same genotype) animals were compared in all experiments described.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
