HbA1c (reference values 4%–6%) was assessed by high-performance liquid chromatography (D10 Hemoglobin Testing System, Bio-Rad, France). ELISA kits for adiponectin, leptin, glucagon, and GLP-1 were obtained from Mercodia (Sweden), for GIP—from Cloud-Clone Corp. (USA), and for oxyntomodulin—from Cusabio (USA). The ELISA measurements were performed using 1420 Multilabel Counter VICTOR2 (PerkinElmer, USA).

CSF levels of human MDH1 were measured using a commercially available ELISA kit (Cusabio, Hubei, China). We followed the manufacturer's instructions. Briefly, levels of MDH1 were measured in million units (mU) per mL. The detection range of the assay reaches from 9.38 mU/mL to 600 mU/mL. To be in this range, CSF samples were measured in a dilution of 1:100 using the sample diluent buffer supplied in the kit. Colorimetric reaction was measured at 450 nm with a 1420 Multilabel Counter Victor 2 (Wallac) (PerkinElmer, Massachusetts, USA).

To be in this range, CSF samples were measured in a dilution of 1:100. Colorimetric signal was analyzed at 450 nm with a 1420 Multilabel Counter Victor 2 (Wallac) (PerkinElmer, Waltham, MA, USA).
