Agarose (low melting point-ultrapure grade) was obtained from Nzytech (Lisbon, Portugal). Chitosan (medium molecular weight), GO nanocolloids, Phosphate buffered saline (PBS), Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium F-12 (DMEM-F12), penicillin/streptomycin, trypsin, resazurin and LB broth were purchased from Sigma Aldrich (Sintra, Portugal). L-ascorbic acid was bought from Fisher Scientific (Oeiras, Portugal). Acetic acid was acquired from Pronalab (Barcelona, Spain) and lysozyme from chicken egg was purchased from Alfa Aesar (Haverhill, MA, USA). Michigan cancer foundation-7 (MCF-7) cell line was obtained from ATCC (Middlesex, UK). Normal human dermal fibroblasts (NHDF) were acquired from Promo-Cell (Heidelberg, Germany). Fetal bovine serum (FBS) was bought from Biochrom AG (Berlin, Germany). Staphylococcus aureus clinical isolate (S. aureus; ATCC 25923) and Escherichia coli DH5a (E. coli) were used to evaluate the antimicrobial properties. Doxorubicin was acquired from Carbosynth (Berkshire, UK). Ibuprofen was obtained from Tokyo Chemical Industry (Tokyo, Japan). Water used in all experiments was double deionized (0.22 μm filtered, 18.2 MΩ cm).

Calcein-AM, Propidium Iodide (PI), cell culture plates and T-flasks were purchased from Thermo Fisher Scientific (Porto, Portugal). Agarose was obtained from Grisp (Porto, Portugal).
Michigan Cancer Foundation-7 (MCF-7) cell line was acquired from ATCC (Middlesex, UK).
Normal Human Dermal Fibroblasts (NHDF) were purchased from Promocell (Heidelberg, Germany). Ultrapure water (18.2 MΩ cm) was obtained from a water purification system (Healforce, Shanghai, China).

Michigan Cancer Foundation-7 (MCF-7) cell line was acquired from ATCC (Middlesex, UK). Normal human dermal fibroblasts (NHDF) were obtained from PromoCell (Heidelberg, Germany). Fetal bovine serum (FBS) was bought from Biochrom AG (Berlin, Germany). Calcein-AM, cell culture plates, T-flasks and propidium iodide (PI) were purchased from Thermo Fisher Scientific (Porto, Portugal). Cell imaging plates were obtained from Ibidi GmbH (Munich, Germany). GO was acquired from NanoPoz (Umultowska Poznan, Wielkopolska). SBMA-g-BSA was synthesized as previously described [48] . Water used in all assays was double deionized (0.22 μm filtered; 18.2 M cm).
