Cultivation and Preparation of E. coli K12
(v/v) glycerol and prior to experiments a sample was transferred onto LB Agar (Lab M limited, UK) agar plates which were incubated at 37 °C overnight. The inoculum was prepared by transferring three isolated colonies from the latter plates into 200 ml sterile LB Broth (Lab M limited, UK) in 500 ml sterile flasks and incubated at 37 °C for 18 h to give approximately 10 9 CFU•ml -1 at stationary phase. Subsequently, cells were harvested by centrifugation, (7000 × g for 5 min) and washed twice in sterile phosphate buffered saline solution (PBS, Oxoid, Basingstoke, UK) before they were resuspended in sterile PBS (pH 7.1) at a concentration of approximately 10 9 CFU•ml -1 (stock suspension).

About PubCompare
Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.
We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.
However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
