For the validation stage, single human cytokine Luminex immunoassays of TRAIL (Human TRAIL/TNFSF10 XL Magnetic Luminex Performance Assay, Lot.LUXLM375, R&D Systems, a bio-techne brand) and IL-10 (Human IL-10 Magnetic Luminex Performance Assay, Lot.LUHM217, R&D Systems, a bio-techne brand) were performed on 288 enrolled patients according to the manufacturer’s instructions. All samples were randomized to locate in plates.

BALF Biomarker Quantification Protocol
