g-CN was synthesized by thermal treatment of 0.5 g of glucose (from Sigma Aldrich), 10 g of urea (AR, Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co., Ltd) and 0.06 g of SWCNTs (Nanjing XFNANO Materials Tech Co., Ltd). The detailed synthesis process is shown in Supplementary Fig. 1. A two-step method is introduced to synthesize the g-CN electrode. In the first step, all precursors, including urea, glucose and CNTs, were dried at 80 °C for 24 h. Then, the precursors were ground uniformly and put in a crucible (100 ml in volume) with bayonet cap. The crucible was placed in a muffle furnace and heated to 550 °C for 3 h under ambient air. In the second step, the pretreated samples were transferred to a tube furnace with the following programmed heating process: heating at 100 °C for 1 h under Ar protective flow of 200 sccm to remove O2 and water vapour and then continued heating at higher temperatures (700, 800 and 900 °C) to obtain different levels of g-CN products.

Co(BF4)2·6H2O and Cu(BF4)2·6H2O were purchased from Energy Chemical, and Ni(BF4)2·6H2O was purchased from Alfa Aesar. SWCNTs (purity > 95%), with diameters of 1–2 nm and lengths of 5–30 μm, were purchased from XFNANO. 1,2-Dichloroethane was purchased from TCI, and other organic solvents were purchased from Alfa Aesar. Flat glass sheets with a dimension of 15 mm × 15 mm × 1 mm (length × width × height) were cleaned and used as substrates for the film deposition. As a typical cleaning procedure, the glass sheets were fully immersed and sonicated in the aqueous solutions of 5% hydrochloric acid and 5% sodium carbonate successively, washed with deionized water before and after each sonication, and finally rinsed with absolute ethanol thoroughly before drying in vacuo.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
