β estradiol e2 e8875

Manufactured by Merck Group
Sourced in United States

β-estradiol (E2) (E8875) is a chemical compound that is commonly used as a reference standard in laboratory research. It is a naturally occurring steroid hormone that plays a crucial role in the female reproductive system. The core function of this product is to serve as a reference material for analytical and biological experiments.

MCF-7 Breast Cancer Cell Culture and Hormone Starvation

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
MCF-7 breast cancer cells were routinely grown in DMEM/nutrient mixture F-12 supplemented with 10% FBS and 100 µg/ml of Primocin (InvivoGen), which is active against bacteria, mycoplasma, and fungi. Cells were routinely checked for mycoplasma infection. For the experiments, cells were plated in the same media at a density of 2 × 105 cells in 12-well plates, and for 24 h, they were hormone starved by washing them thoroughly with PBS, adding DMEM/F-12 media without phenol red, and supplementing with 2% dextran-coated, charcoal-treated FBS. 72 h later, cells were treated with β-estradiol (E2, E8875; Sigma-Aldrich) or vehicle for the indicated time and harvested for downstream applications.
HEK293 cells were routinely grown in DMEM supplemented with 10% FBS, 100 U/ml of penicillin, and 100 µg/ml of streptomycin.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
