Comparative Evaluation of Restorative Materials

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Three commercial restorative materials, including nanohybrid resin composite (FiltekTM Z250XT, 3M ESPE, St. Paul, MN, USA), microhybrid resin composite (FiltekTM Z250, 3M ESPE, St. Paul, MN, USA), and dental amalgam (TytinTM, Kerr Corp., CA, USA) were tested in this study (Table 1).

Analysis of Dental Composite Shades

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
In the present study a total of 244 different shades of 16 widely used and available brands of RBCs were analyzed. Materials included some of the most commonly used brand names for composites employed by dentists worldwide in the past 10 years: Miris ® 2 (Coltène-Whaledent, Altstätten, Switzerland), Esthet-X ® HD, Ceram-X ® Duo, Spectrum ® TPH3 (Dentsply DeTrey, Konstanz, Germany), EcuSphere ® (DMG Chemisch-Pharmazeutische Fabrik, Hamburg, Germany), ENAMEL Plus HFO/HRi ® (GDF, Rosbach, Germany), Venus ® , Venus ® Diamond, Charisma ® (Heraeus Kulzer, Hanau, Germany), Tetric EvoCeram ® , IPS Empress ® Direct (Ivoclar-Vivadent, Schaan, Lichtenstein), Filtek TM Supreme XT , Filtek TM Z250 (3M-Espe Dental Products, St. Paul, MN, USA), Amaris ® and Grandio ® (VOCO, Cuxhaven, Germany).

Comparative Evaluation of Bulk-Fill Composites

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
A micro-hybrid composite resin [(FiltekTM Z250; 3M ESPE, St. Paul, MN, USA)], a bulk-fill composite resin [(FiltekTM Bulk Fill Posterior; 3M ESPE, St. Paul, MN, USA)], a giomer-based bulk-fill composite resin [(Beautifil® Bulk Restorative; Shofu Inc., Kyoto, Japan), and a bioactive bulk-fill restorative material [(ACTIVATM BioACTIVE; Pulpdent Corporation, Watertown, MA, USA)] were used in the study. A light shade was selected for each material (shade A1, except for ACTIVATM BioACTIVE) for optimal light penetration. The curing light units used in this study were Woodpecker LED-E [Woodpecker Medical Instrument Co., Guilin, China] and CarboLED CL-01 [GCP Dental, Ridderkerk, Netherlands]. The power intensity of the light-curing units used was measured using a digital radiometer (Woodpecker LED Light Meter; Woodpecker Medical Instrument Co., Guilin, China). Details of the materials and the light-curing units are listed in Table 1 and Table 2, respectively.

Comparative Evaluation of Dental Composites

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
This was an in vitro experimental study. Table 1 presents the characteristics of the composite resins used in this study: Vertise Flow, Premise TM Flow (both from Kerr Corp., Scafati, Italy) and Filtek TM Z250 (3M, Maplewood, USA). The A2 shade was used, because it is the composite resin shade most widely used in dentistry.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
