Cinnamyl alcohol

Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB, AR, Beijing Aoboxing Biotech Co., Ltd. Beijing, China) and KBr (≥99%, Macklin Biochemical Co., Ltd., Shanghai, China) were used as received. The cinnamyl alcohol (≥98%), phenyl ethanol (≥99.5%), phenyl methanol (≥99%), and anisyl alcohol (≥98%) were purchased from Shanghai Macklin Biochemical Co., Ltd, Shanghai, China. And used as received. The probe, 16-ArN₂⁺, and typical dediazoniation products, i.e., 16-ArOH and 16-ArBr, had been prepared previously in the laboratory. The dediazoniation products of the probe and alcohols were obtained from Wuxi AppTec, Shanghai, China, for calibration curve preparation. All aqueous solutions were prepared using deionized water.

(Z/E)-3’’-hydroxy-geranylhydroquinone [(Z/E)-3’’-OH-GHQ] was chemically synthesized as described previously (Oshikiri et al., 2020 (link)). Cofactors FMN, NAD(P)⁺ and NAD(P)H were purchased from Solarbio (Beijing, China). Deuterium oxide and the substrates cinnamyl alcohol, p-coumaryl alcohol, coniferyl alcohol, sinapyl alcohol, and geraniol were purchased from Macklin (Shanghai, China).

Cyanuric chloride (99%), p-phenylenediamine (99%), benzyl alcohol (99%), anisole (99.5%), tert-butyl hydroperoxide (70% in H₂O) and 4-bromobenzyl alcohol (99%) were purchased from Aladdin (Shanghai, China). 4-Methylbenzyl alcohol (98%), 4-methoxybenzyl alcohol (98%), cinnamyl alcohol (98%), and 4-nitrobenzyl alcohol (98%) were purchased from Macklin (Shanghai, China). Methanol (anhydrous, 99.8%) was purchased from Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Beijing Co., Ltd. (Beijing, China). NaCl (≥99.5%) was purchased from Tianjin Damao Chemical Reagent Factory (Tianjin, China). All reagents were used as received without further purifications.
