Holmium chloride hexahydrate, poly(vinyl alcohol) (MM 13,000–23,000 g mol−1, 98% hydrolyzed), poly(3-hydroxy-butyrate-co-3-hydroxy-valerate) (PHB-HV) with 5% or 8% amounts of 3-hydroxy-valerate in copolymer were obtained from the Sigma-Aldrich. Acetylacetonate and chloroform were from Vetec (Brazil). Ammonium hydroxide and nitric acid were obtained from commercial suppliers and used as obtained.

Didodecyldimethylammonium chloride (DDAB, >98%) was purchased from TCI Chemicals. 1-decyl-3methyl imidazolium chloride ([C10mim]Cl, 96%), iron (III) trichloride (99.99%) and holmium chloride hexahydrate (99.9%), were purchased from Sigma Aldrich and used without further purification. Didodecyldimethylammonium tetrachloroferrate (DDAF) was synthesized according to literature [19] by stirring didodecyldimethylammonium chloride with an equimolar amount of iron (III) chloride in methanol overnight. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the residue dried in vacuo at 80 °C overnight. 1-decyl-3-methyl imidazolium tetrachloroholminate ([C10mim][HoCl4]) was also synthesized according to literature [14] , whereby 1 eq. of metal chloride was added to a methanolic solution of [C10mim]Cl and stirred overnight at room temperature, then dehydrated in vacuo at 80 °C for 48 hours. The resulting product is a putty-like substance.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
