Cell counter

Manufactured by Merck Group
Sourced in United States

The cell counter is a laboratory instrument used to determine the number of cells in a sample. It accurately measures the concentration and total count of cells, including cells that are viable or non-viable. The cell counter provides quantitative data on the cell population.

Cell Growth Kinetics Monitoring

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Cells were seeded onto 12-well plates at 1 × 104 cells per well and incubated with 1 mL of media. Cells were counted daily by Cell Counter (Scepter 2.0, Millipore) for 9 days.

Cell Counting Using Scepter Device

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
To determine cell number, cells were washed with PBS and dissociated by trypsin. Cells were then resuspended with DMEM containing 10% FBS and cell number was measured using a cell counter (Millipore, Billerica, MA, USA). Cell number counted by a Scepter cell counter was based on Coulter principle of impedance-based particle detection [54 (link)]. Cells ranging in diameter between 10 to 22 μm were counted as surviving cells [55 (link)].

3T3-L1 Cell Count Monitoring

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
3T3-L1 cells were detached from six-well plates using 0.25% trypsin (Thermo Fisher Scientific), resuspended in complete DMEM, and counted using a cell counter (Millipore) every day from day 0–4.

Isolation and Cryopreservation of CBMCs

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
At the time of delivery, whole cord blood was collected in umbilical cord blood collection kits (Pall Medical). Whole blood was additionally collected in EDTA tubes for fresh whole cord blood experiments. CBMCs were isolated by Ficoll-histopaque density centrifugation (GE Life Sciences). CBMCs were cryopreserved in liquid nitrogen and transported for analysis in San Francisco, CA, USA. Post-thaw CBMC viability was analysed via Millipore cell counter and was consistently >78 %.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
