Malaria-infected mice were injected i.p. with 2.5mg of 5-bromo-2 0 -deoxyuridine (BrdU, Sigma-Aldrich) in DPBS and euthanized 5 hours later. Splenocytes were surface stained for GC B cell markers, then fixed and permeabilized for detection of incorporated BrdU using the FITC anti-BrdU Flow kit (BD Biosciences, CA, USA) according to the manufacturer's instructions. For cell cycle analysis experiments, malaria-infected mice were injected i.v. with 1mg of EdU (Invitrogen), followed by 2mg of BrdU 1 h later. Splenocytes were analyzed 30 mins after BrdU administration using the FITC anti-BrdU Flow kit (BD Biosciences) and Click-iT Plus EdU Pacific Blue Flow Cytometry Kit (Invitrogen).
