For glucose tolerance testing, glucose (2 g/kg BW) was injected IP after a 6 hour fast. Tissues for histological analysis were collected at necropsy, weighed, and then fixed in 4% paraformaldehyde before embedding and sectioning. Adipocyte size was assessed using ImageJ. DNA was isolated from tissues using the Quick-DNA Universal kit (Zymo Research) following proteinase K digestion.
