EEG Recording with Subdermal Needle Electrodes

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
A digital electroencephalograph (Neurofax EEG-9100, NIHON KOHDEN, Shinjuku-ku, Japan) was used to record EEG (time constant, 0.3 s; high-cut filter, 60 Hz). A subdermal needle electrode (stainless steel EEG needle, length of 22.5 mm, diameter of 0.22 mm, 1.5-meter cable; NE-224s, NIHON KOHDEN, Shinjuku, Japan) was used as the recording electrode. The placement of electrodes was the same as that reported by Utsugi et al. [10 (link)]. An electrode was placed symmetrically on both sides over the frontal (LF, RF), parietal (LP, RP), occipital (LO, RO), and temporal (LT, RT) lobes. Reference electrodes were placed on the left and right ears. A ground electrode was placed on the dorsal side of the neck above the atlas. Electrodes for recording eye movement were placed near the left and right eyelids (Figure 1). ECG was recorded using electrodes placed on both axillae. Bilateral ear reference electrode derivation and bipolar derivation were performed.

Standard Overnight Sleep Monitoring and Oxygen Desaturation

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Standard overnight sleep studies were performed using a computerized system (Neurofax EEG-9100, Nihon Kohden, Tokyo, Japan). Awake S pO 2 was estimated by calcu-lating the mean of these values at rest, in a sitting position, and during a 5-min period of wakefulness at the beginning of the study. Sleep staging, arousal analysis, and scoring of respiratory events during sleep were performed according to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. 31 Significant sleep desaturation was defined as an S pO 2 during sleep of Ͻ 90% for Ն 5 min with a nadir of at least 85%. 32

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
