The recombinant VSV L and P proteins were expressed as His-tagged proteins in Sf21 insect cells and purified as described previously [16 (link),20 (link),34 (link)]. Site-directed mutagenesis was performed to generate mutant L proteins as described in [29 (link)]. GST and GST-fused P protein were expressed in E. coli and purified as described previously [29 (link)]. Purified proteins were analyzed by electrophoresis in polyacrylamide gels containing SDS (SDS-PAGE) followed by staining with One-Step Blue (Biotium). The N-RNA template was isolated from purified VSV particles as described in [16 (link)].
