Wastewater Characterization and Analysis

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
In situ reactor dissolved oxygen (DO), temperature, and pH were measured using LDO101 and PHC101 probes connected to a portable HQ30d meter (HACH, London, ON, Canada). Total solids (TS), volatile solids (VS), total suspended solids (TSS), and volatile suspended solids (VSS) were analyzed per APHA Section 5210B and Section 2540, as appropriate [19 ]. Samples were filtered using 0.45-micron glass Whatman filter papers.
HACH method 8000 was used for chemical oxygen demand (COD). A Shimadzu TOC-500A (Shimadzu, Columbia, MD, United States) analyzer was used for total organic carbon (TOC). A Skalar SAN Plus 3000/5000 Segmented Flow Analyzer (Skalar Analytical B.V., Breda, Netherlands) was used for total ammonia nitrogen (TAN) (method 155–324 w/r), total phosphorus (TP), and ortho-phosphate phosphorus (PO4-P) (method 503–324 w/r).

The concentration of BA was analyzed by High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC, PerkinElmer Flexar) using a C-18 YMC column at a flow rate of 0.5 mL min−1 and 230 nm of wavelength. The mobile phase was 50 : 50 (v/v) acetonitrile : water adjusted to 2.5 pH with phosphoric acid. The oxalic acid concentration was also examined by HPLC under the analytical condition reported by C. M. Aguilar-Melo et al.23 The total organic carbon (TOC) was determined by using a TOC analyzer (Shimadzu TOC-500 A).

Soil Physicochemical Characterization

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Soil moisture content was determined by oven-drying the samples at 105 °C overnight.
Soil pH was assessed using a fresh soil to water ratio of 2.5 using a Delta pH-meter (Mettler-Toledo Instruments Co., Columbus, OH, USA). Total carbon and total nitrogen were measured on a LECO macro-CN analyzer (LECO, St. Joseph, MI, USA).
Dissolved organic carbon (DOC) was determined by an extraction method described by Jones and Willett (2006) and measured on a TOC analyzer (Shimadzu TOC-500A, Japan).

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
