Human embryonic kidney 293 (HEK293T) cells were cultured with Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium (DMEM; Thermo Fisher Scientific, USA). Human monocytic cell line (THP1) was cultured in RPMI 1640 medium. All cell lines were cultured in a 5% CO2 incubator at 37 °C.

A normal human nasopharyngeal epithelial cell line (NP69), 3 NPC cell lines (SUNE1, SUNE2 and 6-10B) and 293T cells were obtained from the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC; Manassas).
