Occludin

Manufactured by USCN
Sourced in China

Occludin is a tight junction-associated protein that plays a crucial role in the formation and regulation of intercellular tight junctions. It is an essential component of the blood-brain barrier and other epithelial and endothelial barriers. Occludin is involved in maintaining the integrity and permeability of these barrier systems.

Serum Occludin Levels Measurement

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Venous blood (2‐ml venous blood was extracted from the patient within 24 h of onset, placed at room temperature for 2 h, centrifuged, and placed in an EP tube and stored at −80°C until serum was detected). Centrifuge setting parameters: 3000 rpm, 145,000 g, 10 min. A commercially available ELISA kit (Occludin: USCN, China) was used to detect the serum Occludin levels.

Quantifying Serum Biomarkers in Rat MCAO

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
For each rat, blood samples (1 ml) were taken from the left femoral vein at three time points: before MCAO surgery, before reperfusion onset, and after 5-min reperfusion. The serum was separated by centrifuging the blood samples at 3000 g for 10 min at 4 °C before measuring the targeted proteins with commercially available enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits (occludin: USCN, China; claudin-5: Biomatik, Canada; MMP-9: R&D Systems, USA): 100 μl for occludin, 50 μl for claudin-5 and 50 μl for MMP-9. The remaining serum was used for immunoprecipitation of occludin protein.

Serum Biomarkers of Cerebral Ischemia

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
One milliliter of blood were taken from the left femoral vein at each time point: before MCAO, 2h-MCAO, 4h-MCAO, 4h-MCAO with 5min-reperfusion, and 4h-MCAO with 2h-reperfusion. Serum was separated by centrifugation at 3000 rpm for 10 minutes at 4°C. About 200 μl serum could be harvested to measure the levels of occludin and claudin-5 using commercially available ELISA kits for rat samples (occludin: USCN, China; claudin-5: USCN, China).

Serum Occludin Analysis in Brain Tumors

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Peripheral venous blood samples (4 mL) were obtained from patients with brain tumors at admission (i.e., preoperatively) and approximately 24 hours (range, 20–28 hours) after surgery. Blood samples from healthy subjects were taken during their visit to the physical examination center. Serum (100 μL) was separated from each blood sample, and the level of Occludin in the serum was measured using a commercially available enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit for human samples (Occludin: USCN, Wuhan, China).

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
