Model 2020 osmometer

Manufactured by Advanced Instruments
Sourced in France

The Model 2020 Osmometer is a laboratory instrument designed to measure the osmolality of a solution. It determines the osmotic concentration of a sample by the freezing point depression method. The instrument provides accurate and reliable osmolality measurements, which are essential for various applications in the fields of clinical, pharmaceutical, and scientific research.

Optimizing SE-AS Emulsion Formulation

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Keeping the α-tocopherol content constant at 15% v/v in oil: surfactant mixture, the polysorbate-80 content in SE-AS emulsions was increased to obtain an SE-AS with a narrower PdI. The goal of this experiment was to obtain an SE-AS which maintains size and PdI post-filtration. The emulsions were formulated similarly as previously described. Measurement of the pH was performed using an Orion 3-star pH meter from Thermo Scientific (Waltham, MA, USA) and osmolality was measured on an Advanced Instruments model 2020 osmometer (Norwood, MA, USA). Size, PdI and percent content of the oils were evaluated using previously described methods.

Comprehensive Solution Analysis Protocol

For each unit, pH measurements were made using a SevenMultiTM pH-meter with an InLabTM Micro Pro glass electrode (Mettler-Toledo, Viroflay, France). Measures were preceded and followed by instrument validation using standard buffer solution of pH 4 and pH 7 (HANNAH® Instrument, Tannerries, France). Osmolality was measured for each solution using an osmometer Model 2020 Osmometer® (Advanced instruments Inc., Radiometer, SAS, Neuilly Plaisance, France). Turbidity was measured using a 2100Q Portable Turbidimeter (Hach Lange, Marne La Vallée, France), by pooling the five samples per analysed experimental condition and assay time to obtain the necessary volume for the analysis. The results were expressed in Formazin Nephelometric Units (FNU).

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
