Vettest 8008 chemistry analyzer

Manufactured by IDEXX
Sourced in United Kingdom

The VetTest 8008 Chemistry Analyzer is a laboratory instrument designed for in-house veterinary testing. It provides quantitative analysis of various analytes in biological samples, such as blood, serum, or plasma. The VetTest 8008 is capable of performing a wide range of clinical chemistry tests to support the diagnostic and monitoring needs of veterinary practices.

Liver Injury Assessment Protocol

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Hepatotoxicity was assessed by quantifying the activities of serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) using an ALT assay kit according to the manufacturer’s protocol (Vettest 8008 Chemistry Analyzer; IDEXX Lab., UK). The accumulation of collagen in the liver tissue was determined by estimating the hydroxyproline content, an amino acid characteristic of collagen. Hydroxyproline levels in mouse livers were measured using a hydroxyproline assay kit (BioVision, Milpitas, CA) according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The results are reported as milligrams of hydroxyproline per gram of wet liver tissue.

Comprehensive Canine Health Assessment

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
Blood samples were collected from each dog via jugular venipuncture. For complete blood count (CBC) measurement, blood samples were collected into EDTA-containing tubes, and leukocytes, erythrocytes, and thrombocyte were counted using an automated hematology cell counter (MS9-5V; Melet Schloesing Lab, Osny France). To assess kidney, liver, and heart functions, we performed blood chemistry analysis using a bench-top dry chemistry analyzer (Vettest 8008 Chemistry Analyzer; IDEXX Lab, Chalfont St Peter, United Kingdom), in which creatinine, glucose, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT), albumin, total bilirubin, total protein (TP), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), creatine kinase, cholesterol, and amylase levels were determined.

Plasma Ammonia and Orotate Quantification

Check if the same lab product or an alternative is used in the 5 most similar protocols
For blood collection, retro-orbital bleeds were performed with collection in lithium heparin microtainers (BD Diagnostics, Franklin Lake, NJ). Plasma ammonia was determined using a VetTest 8008 Chemistry analyzer (Idexx Laboratories, Westbrook, ME). Plasma orotate was measured using liquid chromatography mass spectrometry according to a previously published method [15 (link)]. For amino acid analysis of plasma and tissues, ion exchange chromatography with ninhydrin detection was performed using a Biochrom 30 Amino Acid Analyzer (Biochrom, Cambridge, UK). For tissues, amino acid concentrations were expressed as μmol / 100 gram of tissue. For tissue analysis, citrulline was removed due to tissue interference with detection.

About PubCompare

Our mission is to provide scientists with the largest repository of trustworthy protocols and intelligent analytical tools, thereby offering them extensive information to design robust protocols aimed at minimizing the risk of failures.

We believe that the most crucial aspect is to grant scientists access to a wide range of reliable sources and new useful tools that surpass human capabilities.

However, we trust in allowing scientists to determine how to construct their own protocols based on this information, as they are the experts in their field.
