Poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) in a 50 : 50 molar ratio (MW 14,500 Da) and an inherent viscosity of 0.53 dl/g (Resomer RG 504 H) was received as gift sample from M/s Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma GmbH & Co. KG (Binger Str, Ingelheim, Germany). d-α-Tocopheryl polyethylene glycol 1000 succinate (Vitamin-E-TPGS) was supplied ex-gratis by M/s ISOCHEM S.A, Gennevilliers, France. Polyethylene glycol (MW 5,000 Da) and water-soluble chitosan were purchased from M/s Sigma Aldrich, Mumbai, India. The solvents such as disodium tetraborate, sodium octanesulphonate, and other chemicals employed for liquid chromatographic studies were all of HPLC grade.

Poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) RESOMER® RG 504 H, 38,000–54,000 Dalton,lactide–glycolide = 50:50, was purchased from Boehringer Ingelheim (Ingelheim am Rhein, Kreis, Germany) Curcumin (Curcuma longa, Turmeric, powder, M.W. = 368.38), dichloromethane (DCM), ammonium bicarbonate (ABC), dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), Mowiol® 40–88 (poly(vinyl)alcohol (PVA) MW 27,000–32,000 PVA) and Tween 20 were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (Milan, Italy). Soybean oil and Lipoid E80 lecithin were purchased from Lipoid (Lipoid AG, Steinhausen/ZG, Switzerland) Bidistilled water was pretreated with a Milli-Q R Plus System (Millipore Corporation, Bedford, OH, USA).

Equimolar uncapped poly(d,l-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) was supplied by Boehringer Ingelheim (Ingelheim am Rhein, Germany) with the tradename (Resomer RG 504 H, Mw = 41.9 kDa, inherent viscosity of 0.5 dL/g). Bovine serum albumin, labeled with rhodamine as a fluorescent dye (BSA-Rhod, Mw = 66 kDa), was purchased from Molecular Probes Europe BV (Leiden, The Netherlands). Analytical grade dichloromethane (DCM) was provided by Carlo Erba (Milano, Italy). Tissue-Tek embedding medium was supplied by Sakura Finetek (Torrance, CA, USA). All other chemicals poly(vinyl alcohol, PVA, Mowiol 40–88; tetrahydrofuran, THF; polystyrene standards for GPC calibration; sodium hydroxide) from Sigma Aldrich (St. Louis, MO, USA) were used.
