This study was approved by the Ethical Committee of Zhengzhou University People’s Hospital, China. All patients were aged >18 years and gave written informed consent. A total of 28 peripheral blood samples (RIAs vs. UIAs = 13:15, denoted as in-house cohort) were collected from the Department of Cerebrovascular Disease, Zhengzhou University People’s Hospital. Blood samples were collected and temporarily stored in the EDTA anticoagulant tubes prior to subsequent RNA extraction. All patients with UIA or RIA were diagnosed by digital subtraction angiography and were not previously treated for IA. Patients who had a fever, tumor or autoimmune diseases, had recently invasive surgery, or were receiving chemotherapy or immunomodulating drugs, as noted in their medical records, were excluded.
