Quantifying Brain Infarction Size via TTC Staining

TTC (2,3,5-tripenyltetrazolium chloride) staining was performed for brain infarction size measurement following previous described methods [4 (link)]. Briefly, brain sections (0.2-0.3 cm in thickness) were incubated with 2% TTC solution for half an hour at 25°C in the dark and then imaged. The total infarction size (cm³) of sections was calculated by the equation: total infarction size = infarction area (cm²) of each section^∗ section thickness.
