Generation of AvCreERT2:Adam23 Mouse Line

To generate the AvCreERT2:Adam23^LoxP/LoxP mouse line, AvCreERT2 mice were bred with Adam23^LoxP/LoxP mice (Lau et al., 2011 (link)). Tamoxifen activation of Cre-recombinase expressed in Advillin-positive cells resulted in deletion of exon 1 of Adam23. Tamoxifen was administered to 6-wk-old mice by gavage at 1.2 mg per 10 g of body weight, for five consecutive days. This was followed by a 1-wk break, after which administration was repeated for another 5 d. Animals were culled and tissue was collected at appropriate time points after Tamoxifen administration.
