Ramie Cadmium Stress Response

Two ramie varieties (ZZ_1; HX_1) were used for cadmium stress treatment. The two species have conspicuous leaf color attributed by different anthocyanin content (Feng et al., 2021 (link)) Shoots from each of the varieties at similar growth stage during the same period were selected for hydroponic cutting according to Gao et al. (2018) (link). These were monitored for 15 days and seedlings with inconsistent growth were removed. CdCl₂ to a final concentration of 50 mg/L was added and three separate biological replicates were sampled at 0, 12, 24, and 48 h after the treatments. All samples were frozen quickly in liquid nitrogen and stored at −80°C until used.
