Cell Culture Conditions for Cell Lines

HEp-2 cells (human cervical adenocarcinoma, CCL-23, ATCC), and U-2 OS cells (human bone osteosarcoma, HTB-96, ATCC) were grown in Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM, D0819, Sigma-Aldrich) with 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS, F7524, Sigma-Aldrich). PC-3 cells (human prostate adenocarcinoma, CRL-1435, ATCC) were grown in DMEM/F-12 (1:1) (31331–093, Thermo Fisher Scientific) with 7% FBS. CaCo2 cells (human colorectal adenocarcinoma, HTB-37, ATCC) were grown in DMEM with 15% FBS. hTERT-RPE1 cells (retinal pigment epithelia, CRL-4000, ATCC) stably expressing GFP-WDFY2 [22 (link)] was a kind gift from Prof. H. Stenmark, Oslo, and were grown in DMEM/F-12 (1:1) with 10% FBS. All cell lines were maintained in medium supplemented with 100 U/ml penicillin and 100 µg/ml streptomycin (P4333, Sigma-Aldrich) at 37 °C and 5% CO₂.
