Blood Sampling for Breast and Ovarian Cancer

Blood samples were obtained from 31 treatment-naive patients; 18 breast cancer patients and 13 ovarian cancer patients (Supplementary Tables 1 and 2) at St. James’s Hospital, Dublin 8, Ireland between 2018 and 2020. Breast cancer patients with a preoperative indication at multidisciplinary team discussion for neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by surgery were recruited and ovarian cancer patients scheduled for either primary debulking surgery or neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by surgery were recruited. A 6 mL K₂-EDTA blood sample was taken from each patient for ex vivo culture prior to the initiation of treatment.
