Briefly, the samples were analyzed by the Olink® Explore 1536 platform which includes measurement of the ACE2 protein. The Olink platform is based on Proximity Extension Assay (PEA) technology and has been validated previously [31 (link)]. Data generation consists of three main steps: normalization to known standard (extension control), log2-transformation, and level adjustment using the plate control. The generated data represent relative protein values, Normalized Protein eXpression (NPX), on a log2 scale where a larger number represents a higher protein level in the sample.
