Analyzing Pup Ultrasonic Vocalizations

Ultrasonic Vocalizations (USVs) emitted by pups after maternal separation for 3 min on post-natal day (PND) 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 were analyzed using Avisoft Bioacoustics system as previously described [61 (link),62 (link)]. Briefly, USVs were recorded with ultrasound microphone (UltraSoundGate CM16, Avisoft Bioacoustics, Glienicke/Nordbahn, Germany) sensitive to frequencies of 10–180 kHz and analyzed with SasLab Pro (version 5.2; Avisoft Bioacoustics, Glienicke/Nordbahn, Germany).
