A micro-computed tomography (Micro-CT) scan was used to examine the morphological variation of the liver during metamorphic climax. After anesthetization by MS-222, tadpoles were fixed in 4% paraformaldehyde for more than 24 h and stained in I2 & KI water solutions (respectively, 1% & 2%, w/v) for 12 h [21 (link)]. A Micro-CT scan was conducted on a Quantum GX Micro CT (PerkinElmer, Waltham, MA, USA) with the following parameters: scanning current, 70 eV; 10 μM; field-of-view: 36 × 36 mm for acquisition, 25 × 25 mm for reconstruction; scan duration, 15 min.
