The harvested vessels were formalin-fixed and processed for standard paraffin embedding for histomorphometry. The deparaffinized sections of 5μm thickness were used for H&E and trichrome staining for assessing the vascular morphology and ECM organization following our previous protocols [19 (link), 20 (link)]. The stained slides were mounted with xylene-based mounting media and imaged using a slide scanner microscope attached with an imaging camera (Leica Thunder, Germany).
