Quantitative RNA Expression Analysis

The total RNA was isolated from SCCHN tissues and cell lines using the TRIzol reagents (Invitrogen, Carlsbad, CA, USA), and cDNA was reverse transcribed using the All-in-One™ mRNA cDNA synthesis Kit (GeneCopoeia, Rockville, MD, USA) following the manufacturers’ protocols. Relative MKRN3 expression values were calculated using the 2^−△△CT method and normalized using the GAPDH expression levels [14 (link), 15 (link)]. The primers used are listed in Additional file 1: Table S1.
