Biofilm Cultivation in Nutrient-Rich Media

For culturing of biofilms, a mixture of 2.5% tryptic soy broth (Merck Millipore, Darmstadt, Germany) and 2.5% malt extract broth (Merck Millipore, Darmstadt, Germany) was used. tryptic soy broth and malt extract broth were prepared according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The resulting media (100%) were each mixed to 2.5% in sterilized tap water of 5.43°e (Clark degree), which corresponds to 0.77 mmol/L CaCO₃. The final pH was 6.8.
