DNA Methylation Profiling in Alcoholic Cirrhosis

DNA methylation β-values measured using the Illumina HM450 beadchip microarray were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus from GSE60753. Data consisted of 21 liver samples with alcoholic cirrhosis and 34 normal liver samples. The original study aimed to better understand the impact of environmental agents on DNA methylation and ultimately liver disease^{23 (link)}. Two liver samples with alcoholic cirrhosis and four normal liver samples were eliminated due to missing data on chronological age. This resulted in the final analysis including 19 liver samples with alcoholic cirrhosis and 30 normal liver samples.
