Characterization of S. aureus SrtA Mutant

The S. aureus 8325–4 wild type (WT) strain and its isogenic srtA deletion mutant (srtA KO) were used in this study. The srtA mutant was generated by srtA:ermC allele transduction, as previously described [9 (link), 13 (link)]. The srtA KO mutant was selected and maintained on brain-heart infusion agar (BHA, BD (Becton Dickinson and Company)-Difco, Etten-Leur, The Netherlands) plates supplemented with 3 μg/ml erythromycin (Abbott Laboratories, North Chicago, Illinois, U.S.).
