Lithium Carbonate and Osmium Tetroxide Protocol

Lithium carbonate (Li₂CO₃) was obtained from the “Novosibirsk Rare Metals Plant” (Siberia, Russia). Osmium tetroxide (OsO₄) was obtained from Sigma-Aldrich Corp. (St. Louis, MO, USA) and Epon was obtained from Serva (Heidelberg, Germany). In this work, lithium carbonate was chosen since there is a long-term experience of its use in clinical practice, in particular for the treatment of psychiatric diseases [11 (link),12 (link),13 (link),14 ].
