mRNA was isolated using the mRNA Isolation Kit for Blood/Bone Marrow (Roche Applied Science), quantified using the RiboGreen RNA quantitation method (Life Technologies, Paisley, United Kingdom), and processed using NuGEN Ovation reagents, to enhance sensitivity [20 (link)]. For each sample, 500 pg of mRNA was processed and hybridized to a Human Genome U133 Plus 2.0 Array GeneChip, as described previously [9 (link)].
