Criteria for Hepatocellular Carcinoma Diagnosis
Variable analysis
- Radiological characteristics in at least 2 imaging methods including ultrasound, liver angiography, magnetic resonance imaging, and contrast-enhanced four-phase dynamic computed tomography
- Serum α-fetoprotein (AFP) level > 400 ng/mL
- Biopsy confirmed diagnosis
- Diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)
- Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection diagnosed by seropositivity for antibody against HCV (anti-HCV)
- Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection diagnosed by seropositivity for hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)
- Alcoholism diagnosed by daily consumption of at least 40 g of alcohol for 5 years or more
- Performance status (PS) determined at enrollment using the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group scale
- Estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) calculated using the modification of diet in renal disease formula
- Total tumor volume estimated using mathematical formulas
