Evaluating Hepatoprotective Potential of Silymarin

Carbon tetrachloride (CCl₄) was bought from the Sigma Aldrich Company, USA. A standard hepatoprotective drug named silymarin (Brand name: silybin) was obtained as a gift from Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Again, SGPT, SGOT, ALP, Creatinine, Total Cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Triglyceride were assessed by using blood serum analyzing kits, which were bought from Orbit Trade Ltd, and Gentech Ltd, Bangladesh. These parameters were analyzed by Humalyzer 3000, Germany [50 (link), 51 (link)]. LDH, CAT, SOD, and MDA were measured by maintaining the parameters provided by Jianchueng Biochemical Technological Institute, Nanjing [52 (link)]. γ-GT were calculated using standard AMP diagnostic kits from Stattogger Strasse 31b 8045 Graz, Austria [53 (link)]. Later, different groups’ oxidative stress parameters and DNA fragmentation were completed by using Diphenylamine reaction procedure, and the calculation was conducted with the help of the following formula:
