Culture of Human Neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y Cells

Human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y (ATCC CRL-2266) cells were cultured using a procedure based on Wang et al. [73 (link)]. SH-SY5Y cells were cultured in Dulbecco’s modified eagle medium (DMEM)/F12 supplemented with 10% heat-inactivated fetal bovine serum (FBS) and 1% penicillin/streptomycin (PS) (growth media) from Bovogen Biologicals (Melbourne, VIC Australia). Cells were maintained at 37 °C in a humidified incubator with 5% CO₂ and 95% relative humidity and passaged every 3 days.
